Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B in a signature mix. From Broadway to European music festivals and clubs the singer has done work across the globe. Sunshine has been born Denise White. Her birthplace is Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by singing and playing the piano in church. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training within the Atlanta's R&B scene. The band was hired as the main keyboardist of Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the choral leader for the production. Sunshine received national attention during her four daily performances in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing in the Obama administration's inaugural in 2009.
